Terror attack fails to stop Trade Bank of Iraq

Trade Bank of Iraq Chairman praises "business as usual" staff

TBI Press office, Baghdad - June 22, 2010

It was business as usual today (Tuesday) at Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI). Yesterday's terrorist attack in Baghdad totally failed to slow down the country's leading international bank.

Mr. Hussein Al-Uzri, Chairman & President of TBI, praised the determination of his bank staff in overcoming these difficult times with determination and great personal courage.

As work continued as normal with international partners and Iraqi businesses, Mr. Al-Uzri said:

"We are all still shocked and angry at this failed attempt to destroy the economic success story in Iraq today. We are determined in our resolve that this inhumane act will not disrupt the key role The Bank performs in ensuring that the people of Iraq receive the basic essential supplies of food and medicines. " I am proud of the courage and professionalism of our staff in ensuring business as usual. "This is the best way to defeat those who attempt to destroy the great future of this country. We honor the memory of the good people that died"

Two suicide bombers acted in sequence yesterday morning and attacked the premises of the bank. There were no fatalities among the staff but, tragically, four guards died in the attack and a further five were wounded
